The Best Documentaries Of 2025 (So Far)

We look back at the first quarter of the year and choose our favorite 10 doc releases.

Three months into the year, the very best documentaries of 2025 are still to come. I know this because I’ve seen a few of them. They premiered at the Sundance Film Festival but haven’t been released yet. I’m talking about 2000 Meters to Andriivka, Mr. Nobody Against Putin, and Middletown. Still, the first quarter of 2025 hasn’t been without great documentaries, especially of the two-part and limited series variety. How many of these titles will make the cut come December? At least half, I think.
