Proving that weekends don’t matter as much for documentary box office, the highest-grossing nonfiction feature of the past seven days was The Ark and the Darkness, which took in $359,300 last Monday. Released by Fathom Events for limited showings since March 20, the film examines the scientific likelihood that the Noah’s Ark story from the Bible is based on true events. Its best day at the box office was Thursday, March 21, when it grossed $955,257 from 1,030 screens. On April 1, the film returned for one more night following a week away from theaters, ranking seventh place for the day.
